Who We Are
Since 1956, the Lions of District 22-C have been a community based, not-for profit organization whose primary objective is to prevent blindness through sight-saving outreach programs. What We Do
Early detection is the key topreventing blindness. We provide health screenings, eyeglasses, and financial assistance for sight saving medical treatments. Our programs include, Mobile Health Unit Screening Clinics, Eyeglass and The Francis J. Garner Memorial Why We Do It
Lions recognize the impact that prevention and education has on the community at large and especially among at-risk populations. Our ambitious grassroots programs evolved through the official Lions motto “We Serve.” Our Community Outreach includes free vision, glaucoma, and hearing screenings, and distributes educational materials Who Makes This PossibleWe have been fortunate to partner with many organizations throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area that believe in blindness prevention. Their commitment – along with philanthropic grants, foundations, corporate support, memorial donations and financial support from local Lions Clubs – make our endeavors possible and enable us to bring our mission of preventing blindness to life. Our Service Area Our service area includes Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles Calvert and St. Mary's Counties, as well as the District of Columbia. Our dedication has allowed us to travel to many cities from downtown District of Columbia to Damascus, Maryland and as far south as Leonardtown. We participate in health fairs, school functions, church events, festivals, and other community gatherings. |
